Cécile & Christopher – A Joyful French-British Wedding in Bristol Harbour

If you are dreaming of a Bristol harbour wedding full of colour, emotion and personality, Cécile and Christopher’s day was a beautiful celebration of culture, love and community.

Their French-British wedding in Bristol blended elegance with spontaneity: from their heartfelt ceremony at Hotel du Vin to a joyful cortège through the harbour and an intimate gathering with friends overlooking the water. It was vibrant, emotional and deeply personal — exactly the kind of day I love documenting as a Bristol documentary wedding photographer.

A Romantic Ceremony at Hotel du Vin Bristol

Cécile and Christopher chose Hotel du Vin Bristol for their ceremony — a romantic and intimate venue right in the heart of the city.

I had the pleasure to document Cécile getting ready in one of the beautiful rooms from the Hotel du Vin - I love these pre ceremony moments, where nervousness meets excitement and capturing all the little details of your wedding outfits…

Guests travelled from France and across the UK to celebrate them, creating a beautiful mix of cultures, languages and laughter. The ceremony itself was emotional and full of warmth: teary smiles, quiet hand squeezes and the kind of genuine moments that make weddings so unforgettable.

For couples planning a Bristol city centre wedding, Hotel du Vin offers the perfect combination of charm, intimacy and ideal location in the centre of the city.

A Joyful Wedding Cortège Through Bristol Harbour

After the ceremony, the celebrations continued with one of the most joyful parts of the day — a wedding cortège through Bristol Harbour.

Friends and family followed the newlyweds through the lively streets towards the harbour, creating a spontaneous procession full of cheering, laughter and hugs. The timing was perfect: the Bristol Harbour Festival was taking place that weekend, bringing music, colour and life to the waterfront.

As a documentary wedding photographer in Bristol, these are the moments I love the most — real, unscripted joy unfolding naturally.

Visiting the Boat They Call Home

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was when guests followed Cécile and Christopher to their boat in Bristol harbour — the very place they call home.

We had to get the group photo with their boat. Sharing it with their loved ones felt incredibly personal and symbolic — a glimpse into their world as a couple.

It was one of those moments that felt beautifully authentic: a wedding day rooted not just in tradition, but in the life they have built together.

An Elegant and Relaxed Celebration at The Ostrich Bristol

The celebration continued at The Ostrich Bristol, one of the most iconic harbour-side pubs in the city.

With its historic charm and views over the water, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed Bristol wedding reception. Guests spilled outside with drinks, conversations flowed easily, and the evening unfolded with heartfelt speeches and joyful reunions between friends and family from different countries.

The atmosphere was effortless and warm — the perfect ending to a day full of love and celebration.

A Wedding Full of Emotion, Culture and Connection

Cécile and Christopher’s wedding was everything I love about photographing weddings: joyful, heartfelt and completely true to who they are.

From the ceremony at Hotel du Vin to the harbour walk, visiting their boat home and celebrating at The Ostrich, every part of their day felt meaningful and deeply connected to their story with their favourite people rooting for them.

And I was so happy to practice my French with all the guests that had come my home-country :)

As a Bristol wedding photographer specialising in documentary photography, I focus on capturing real moments — the laughter, the tears, the in-between glances that make your day uniquely yours.

My work is also inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly, and I feel incredibly grateful to photograph couples from all backgrounds, cultures and love stories.
