Secret Timeline Tips from a Wedding Planner That Makes Your Photographer Love You
The best timings for your Wedding day are dictated by so many factors.
Before confirming the timings for your wedding day you should seek the advice of a Wedding Planner in the UK who can advise what would work best. They will take into account all of your suppliers needs, especially your Photographer’s to ensure you capture all those special moments in the best setting.
If you do not have access to a Wedding Planner in the UK, Laura Dalton from Kept Weddings shares with you her secret tips when considering the timings of your day that will make your Photographer LOVE YOU.
Non negotiables
It is important for a couple to identify their non-negotiables. This could be anything from enjoying your musician during the drinks reception to sparklers in the evening. You need to know what you want from your day to ensure your photographer works harmoniously around these. The last thing you want is to be taken away for photos during the musician’s performance meaning you miss them or for your photographer to depart before you’ve captured your sparkler moment!
Sunset
Before confirming your ceremony time, you should consider the sunset time. The hour before the sunsets is usually the best lighting for capturing couple photos. During the summer months the sun sets later which could interfere with your first dance time. If golden hour photos are important to you, you may wish to push your first dance back later to allow time beforehand for golden hour photos. But be aware it doesn’t shorten your party time as guests often won’t dance until the first dance has happened.
Ceremony location and time
Where is your ceremony taking place? If it is in a different location, you may need to start the ceremony earlier to allow time for your guests to travel between locations. You don’t want the day to feel rushed as it will mean you have less time to have photos. Equally you want to make sure beforehand you have enough time to get any first looks after hair and make up.
Mornings can be just as important for photos. This is your photographers opportunity to capture the details and the venue before things get moved out of place. Your photographer will also need time to move between spaces so they can capture those important moments.
Group photos
Decide on how many group photos you want. Keep the list as small as possible ordering them by importance to ensure you capture what you need. Did you know it takes 3-5 minutes per group photo? 10 group photos can take 30 minutes away from your timeline so you may need to extend your drinks reception to ensure you capture all your photos and also allow time for enjoying your canapes!
Buffer times
Expect timings not to run to schedule on the day. 15 minute buffer windows can be scheduled for important moments to give your photographer the chance to capture those moments without feeling rushed. If you want bridal portraits before the ceremony, being ready 1 hour before will not always be enough. Allow yourself 15 more minutes which can be used to double check the room is tidy, your jewellery is on, your make up is topped up ready to be papped. Better to be early for the ceremony then late!
