Milo, a toddler (not a baby)
Milo is the very reason why I love my job so much, just to hang out with cool kids like him. He’s sweet, bossy (when at home), so clever, fun & full of energy.
This family photoshoot at home proves how much taking our time matters. Let’s be honest toddlers have their moods. To not get stiff & ungenuine images it’s very dear to my heart that sessions are children-lead. They decide what we do, we can make suggestions & change the rules of games but in the end they will do what they like. And this takes time. Time to let them wander around and come back to us with a new game. Time to let them wind down if they got frustrated. Time for us to have a glass of water and catch our breath! Guess what Milo’s favorite game is also “catch me” keeping me on my toes.
Turns out the classic hide & seek, making Milo hide with mummy was the best way to get cuddly, skin to skin, tender photos.
How rare is a threenager genuine embrace? haha
“I’m not baby, I’m toddler”
Next time you plan a family photoshoot at home my best advice is don’t plan.
Go with the flow. Follow your children, let them get dirty & feral, let them express themselves. Play with them how you usually do.
The sweetest family moments are the ones you do everyday, the bedtime stories, the routine, the real connections between you… This is what I aim to document. I’m like a wildlife photographer watching a mama bear and its cubs, except way less dangerous. Depends on the toddler’s rage.

Thank you Holly & Abiel for your warm welcome in your beautiful house in Bristol.
Milo you have my heart!!! xxx
